| What is the Impco process?
The Impco Patented Impregnating Process incorporates the use of polyester resins specially formulated for impregnation of all types of micro and macro-porosity, ferrous and non-ferrous alloy castings. The Impco Process features Dry - Vacuum-Pressure impregnation. After the Dry Vacuum and pressure impregnating cycles, the surface of the castings are washed at ambient temperature in a plain water bath and rinsed in plain water, leaving no evidence or film of impregnating material on the surface of the castings. Also incorporated in the Impco Process is contact-curing (quench bath) for polymerizing the resin in the wall thickness of the castings. This reduces the possibility of exudation or bleedout of materials on the surface of the castings during the polymerization or cure cycle and materially reduces cure time.
